The Joy of the Lord

8/13/12

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

What would it take in this world to have real joy? Perhaps a visit to a place you have never been, a new car or house, seeing an old friend, being able to spend time with a loved one that passed away, getting a second chance. Sure, we all could think of something that would bring joy to our life. But that joy will not last!

There was a man who lived many years ago, his name was Solomon. Solomon looked all over the world for true, lasting joy. He looked to alcohol, women, riches of this world and even education. But at the end of his journey in looking for this joy, here is what he said.  Ec 1:2 Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity.

If Solomon, the richest and wisest man could not find lasting joy on this earth, how are we going to have it?

Here is how; true joy cannot be found in the things of this earth. Things bring temporary joy that will come one day and leave the next. Listen to what the wise Solomon said about how to have real joy. Ec 12:13  Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.

If you want real joy, you can have it in the Lord Jesus Christ! Give your life and your heart to Him. He is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. He gives you joy, peace, happiness and the faith you need to make it each and every day. I challenge you with this today; find true joy in the Lord. Get in your Bible right now, let Jesus talk to you. Let Him guide your life. Let Him take away your heavy burdens.

1Pe 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
